Summer Reading

I can’t believe we’re already 3 weeks into our summer break! We’ve been so busy visiting with family, road trips, and play dates with friends, the time is flying!

We were also able to squeeze in some trips to the library and sign up for our local summer reading program. The kids set their own goal to read 100 books this summer and each week we turn in their reading logs and they earn prizes along the way. It’s a great incentive to keep up with their reading!

We usually browse through all of the books and the kids pick out whatever looks fun or interesting to them, and I like to add some in as well. Here are a few that I thought looked especially good for summer.

Shark Lady

The Boy Who Swam With Piranhas

Finding Wild

Pictures From Our Vacation

James and the Giant Peach

This is Sadie

The Secret Garden

Mr. Tiger Goes Wild

Sweet Summertime

Ahhh sweet summertime. The days are long but the months fly by. Today is actually my son’s very last day of kindergarten (cue the tears 😢) so I felt like this was a fitting first post! Every summer we sit down and come up with a bucket list for the summer. We like to keep it pretty low key and have plenty of lazy days, but also like a little bit of an agenda to keep from going stir crazy. What are your plans for the summer?

We also have a dog, Dixie, and a cat, Benny (and depending on the day, whatever other creature the kids talk me into keeping). Our story isn’t always perfect but I try to always capture the little moments that make our lives magical.
